7 Experiences to have in Nadi, Fiji

Fiji is a honeymoon paradise... or a debacle adventure with my cousin. It is such a beautiful country with some of the friendliest people I've ever met.. and I'm not exaggerating. Everywhere you go you will be greeted with a friendly Bula (hello in Fijian). If you want adventure or just to relax, Fiji is a perfect place to explore. Check out our list of 7 things we did in Fiji.

All activities was booked through our hotel: DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Fiji - Sonaisali Island. They were great for book all our activities and providing transportation for both pick up and drop off :)

1. The Garden of the Sleeping Giant

The Garden of the Sleeping Giant is a botanical garden with over 2000+ types of orchids. When you first enter the garden, you'll be greeted by one of the staff. They will give you a brief tour of the garden, a description of the orchids, and history of the mountain. After the tour, you're able to wander around on your own and take in the beauty of the garden.

2. Mud Bath & Hot Spring

This is probably one of my most unique experience I've tried in Fiji. Just down the road from the orchid garden there is a thermal mud bath and hot spring. You're probably going to need a bathing suit that you don't care for because it does get really  messy. They are going to give you buckets of mud to rub all over your body. Wait until it dries, then hop into the mud bath and take it off.   The last step is the hot spring. I know it kinda sounds crazy to go to a hot spring in a tropical location. But trust me, your skin is going to feel so soft and exfoliated. You have the option to get a message with an additional charge. We did a 30 minute message for $40 FIJI. I also want to mention, the mud bath and hot spring is own by the village and most of the money goes towards them.

3. Hindu Temple

Fiji has a huge Hindu influence, so you will see a lot of temples around the island. The most famous Hindu temple is the Sri Siva Subramaniya. You can't miss the temple's vibrant colors and impressive architecture. However, there is a strict dress you'll need to adhere to enter the temple. Also, no pictures are allow in the temple but you can take as many pictures on the outside.

4. Waterfall

Magic waterfall is one of the biggest waterfall on Nadi and it's a long trek to get there. You will definitely need a tour guide to take you there. The car ride to the water fall is about 3 hours but then you'll have to take a 45 minute boat ride upriver. It was pouring rain that day but very well worth it. Despite the torrential rain, the water was refreshing and cool.

5. Fijian Village

If you want a cultural lesson than visiting one of the Fijian villages is a must. Visiting the village and waterfall was all in one tour. The waterfall is own by the village and that is how they're able to sustain their way of living. You'll get to see some traditional dances, try authentic Fijian food, learn how to weave baskets, and take a tour of the village. And definitely try kava, a powder root from the yagona plants. It will make your mouth, lips, and tongue feel a numbing sensation. It might sound strange but it's worth a try.

6. Sunset Horseback Riding

This was actually provided by the resort we stayed at. It is a 1 hour sunset horseback riding on the beach. Half way through the ride, we stoped and got some complimentary champagne while watching the sunset. It's suppose to be romantic but as you can see.. I went with my cousin.

7. Cloud 9

We did this on our last full day in Fiji. Cloud 9 is a floating bar in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It is about a 45 minute boat ride to the bar. When you book for Cloud 9, you'll get a $65 FIJI voucher where you can use it on pizza and drinks. There were plenty of places to sit and relax or you can go snorkeling. We got pretty excited when we saw 3 sea turtles.
