Itinerary: A 4 Day Guide to Boston

Visiting Boston has been on my bucket list for years. So when we found cheap tickets from Chicago to Boston, we booked our flights right away. Boston is honestly one of the most picturesque cities in the United States. It's a small city but has so much culture and history... and lets not forget about the great seafood. I could probably eat a lobster roll every day.

I decided to take a trip with some of the closest people I know... my sister and cousin. Oh boy! It was definitely a girl's trip. From afternoon tea at the Boston Public Library, visiting Harvard, to a mini road trip to Cape Cod. There is no shortage of things to do in Massachusetts.

Boston Itinerary - Day 1

Our first day in Boston wasn't very eventful. We had an early flight at 5:30AM and didn't sleep the night before. We were too excited for Boston. When we got to the hotel, We took a much needed 3 hour nap.  Even though we didn't leave the hotel until 7PM, we were able to do some exploring in Downtown Boston.
  • Morning flight from Chicago to Boston: Landed in Boston around 9:00AM and picked up our rental car. It's not necessary to rent a car, but our hotel was outside the city and we wanted to go to Cape Cod the next day.
  • Checked into DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in Bedford Glen MA. It's about a 25-45 minute drive outside of Boston. Depending on traffic.
  • Grabbed lunch at Pressed Cafe in Burlington. I had a smoked salmon bagel with a caramel latte. It was so delicious but the portions are huge.
  • Walked around Boston for a little bit. Taking in all the historical sights and architect.
  • Drinks and Boston cream pie at Parker's Restaurant. The restaurant is located in the Omni Hotel in downtown Boston.
  • Late happy hour from 9-10PM at Marliave. $1 oysters and little neck clams. We also got escargot, truffle fries, and chicken risotto with mushrooms and roasted garlic. We were STUFFED!

Cape Cod and Boston Itinerary - Day 2

If we had more time in MA, then we would have done a weekend trip to Cape Cod instead of 1 day.  We decided to check out the town Falmouth since it's a popular town and Providence Town was too far for just one day in Cape Cod. I'm so glad we did! Falmouth has a quaint beach town vibe and excellent seafood.
  • Started our day grabbing coffee at True North Coffee.  I had an iced vanilla latte.
  • Drove 2.5 hours to Cape Cod. The traffic was crazy, but we should have known. We decided to visit Cape Cod on a Friday where everyone is driving down there for the weekend.
  • Lunch at the Quarterdecker Restaurant. Cape Cod is the perfect place to get great lobster rolls, calm chowder, fish n' chips, and stuff quahog. Every thing was so good and it was my first time eating stuff quahog. Definitely will get it again!
  • Dessert at Maison Villatte for their famous chocolate croissants. I heard the almond croissant is also excellent. It's a very popular French bakery in town.
  • Nobska Light House. Unfortunately, we couldn't climb the lighthouse because it's on private property.
  • Old Silver Beach. It's a very popular beach in Falmouth, so that means it's very crowded. There is a fee for parking but we got the beach pretty late. So they let us in for free.
  • Drove back to Boston. The drive was a lot shorter and no traffic.
  • Late night dinner at Dumpling Cafe in Chinatown. Favs: Steamed dumpling with vegetables, mini juicy buns with pork, roasted duck buns, and pan fried noodles with beef.
  • Late night drinks at Double Chins. We got the matcha badass boba, taro badass boba, and pink lady cocktail (sake, cranberry, and lychee).  We noticed that most bars in Boston closes at 2AM and Double Chin was one of the very few places that was open until 4AM. Our waitress informed us that Boston doesn't serve alcohol after 2AM.

Boston Itinerary - Day 3

This day was dedicated to exploring all of Boston-- well mostly Back Bay area.  We did a lot walking that day. Good thing Boston is a small city and I wore very comfy shoes.
  • Started our day shopping on Newbury street. This street has both high end and low end stores.
  • Afternoon tea at the Boston Public Library. It's a must to do with your girlfriends. I had a matcha latte and an assortment of pastries and finger sandwiches. Everything was adorable.
  • Strolled through  the Boston Public Garden. If we had more time, we would have taken a ride on the swan boat, which has been sailing since 1877. The Boston Public Garden is the oldest public park in the U.S!
  • Happy hour at Marliave again. We just got the $1 oysters,  little neck clam, and escargot.
  • Coffee at the Thinking Cup. This place was highly recommended to us!
  • Drinks at Rooftop in the Revere Hotel. We didn't stay there too long but it had a  great view of Boston.
  • Dinner at Santouka Back Bay for Ramen. The restaurant is very small and only seats a handful of people. We waited about 45 minutes but it was well wroth it. It's probably one of the best Ramen I've ever had. I had the miso ramen.

Cambridge & Boston Itinerary - Day 4

You got into Harvard Law?
What? Likes, it's hard?
-Legally Blonde

Well, can you guess what we did on our last day in Boston? YES, HARVARD! You can't go to Boston and not checking out Harvard. It was very gloomy day but that did not stop us from exploring the campus.
  • Breakfast at Tatte in Cambridge. I had the house latte (honey-halva and cardamons). It's so delicious and highly recommend.
  • Explored Havard campus. The campus is huge and beautiful. Makes me want to be a smarty pants :)
  • Bought a Harvard Sweater!
  • Drove back to Boston for Lunch at The Daily Catch. We had the calamari, clam chowder, and squid ink pasta with scallops.
  • Walked around Seaport Area/South Boston. Got some great pictures of the skyline and harbor.
  • Drinks at Hopsters Brewing Company. The brewery has a very cool vibe and some great beer. We also go the lobster roll there but it was okay.
  • Grabbed some cannolis at Mike's Pastry. I couldn't go to Boston and not go to Mike's Pastry. Even though the line went out the door, we only wait 30 minutes. Not too bad and very will worth it!
  • Called it an early day, since I had a 5AM flight. My sister and cousin stayed another day. I had to be back at work the next day. (BOOOOO!!!)
