Bohol, Philippines Part 1

What's crazy about me going on this Bohol trip is that I spent half of my life living in the Philippines, but I have never been to this place. I had no idea on what I should look for or what to make sure to experience. Bohol is best known for The Chocolate Hills. Now if you're looking for brown edible hills, you came to the wrong place.

This is The Chocolate Hills. At this viewing spot, you will be able to see a 360 view of The Chocolate Hills.

Tagbilaran Airport

Let me go back a bit, when you land at the Bohol airport, expect a very small airport. It hard to get lost here because it's really small. The plane will park and you will deplane right where you parked. Below is the image of the airport.

Tip: follow the crowd.

We went with a group of friends and actually booked a van to take us on a tour right outside the airport. The only thing we pre-booked was our lodging. We stayed for 3 full days and our schedule was packed.

Lodging: Greenfields
The place we stayed was a pretty comfy place. It was not a 5-star hotel, but it was a homey and comfy place. There we only 8 rooms I believe and there are two pool our front. It comes with free breakfast, so that's also a plus for anyone looking to travel on a budget. We had a pretty big group, but we had one big room with 8 beds. The downside is there's only one bathroom for us to share in the room. There is, however, a public shower in front of the pool, so we utilized that as well. Greefields is not located on the beach. but they have a shuttle that can take you to Alona beach, which was roughly 10-15 minutes away. Overall, I liked this place. It was cozy, clean and very efficient.

Baclayon Church
First stop in our tour was the Baclayon church This is the church is a well-known church in Bohol, it was one of the oldest churches around that was never touched. Unfortunately, due to an earthquake that hit Bohol, parts of the church collapsed. On the good news, restoration is on its way when we visited.

Mag Aso Falls
Next, we went to Magaso falls, which was pretty small. If you plan to go here, be ready to go up and down a lot of steps and mossy rocks. The water was cold but refreshing. We went in the beginning of December, but it was still pretty hot in the Philippines. There's a small fee to get in, but it's worth the price. If swimming is something you love to do, this is right up your alley.

Bohol Bee Farm
Before our last stop for our first day's tour, we had lunch at the Bohol Bee Farm. This stop had lunch, dessert, and a gift shop. The food was pretty good, but the view was amazing. What you should try is their ice cream! They are so creative when it comes to the flavors, I wanted to try them all.

Hinagdanan Cave
Our last stop for the day is the Hinagdanan Cave. This stop of the day was meh to me. The tour guide was really entertaining, but there was really not a lot to see. there's water inside the cave, but since it was late, we weren't able to swim. Maybe if I was able to swim in the water, my thoughts would be different, but since I didn't this is a pass for me for next time.
